US firm’s Nairobi factory to produce cheap building panels
Low cost panels and building blocks will boost affordable housing in Kenya.
GreenWorld Development is in talks to build a factory in Nairobi to manufacture panels and building blocks for use in affordable housing in the country.
The US-based company has said it is in joint venture discussions with Kenya and a US renewable energy company to build the production facility in the country, and is ready to sign a memorandum for the joint venture.
“This will further enhance our position in the promising East African emerging markets,” said GreenWorld CEO Leo J. Heinl.
GreenWorld already has a presence in neighbouring Uganda, and said it is hoping to replicate its home building facilities in other East African countries.
The company which is listed on US OTC Bulletin Board is focused on carbon emission technologies and trading, research and development in alternative and sustainable innovation, and healthcare.
Currently, demand is up for green building products and services in East Africa as more developers seek to reduce energy consumption.
