Basco Paints has partnered with global paint manufacturer Ennis Prismo for exclusive distribution of road marking paint in Kenya.

The strategic partnership seeks to expand the paint manufacture’s array of products and give it a competitive edge in the market. It will see Basco Paints become the exclusive distributor of Ennis Prismo thermoplastic road marking paint in Kenya.

The firm will also distribute the road making paints and accessories throughout the east African region as well as Southern Sudan and Congo where it also has operations.

Announcing the partnership, Basco Paints Managing Director Kamlesh Shah said the introduction of Ennis Prismo road marking paints was a great value addition to the Kenyan road industry.

According to Mr Shah the thermoplastic paints offer better reliability, visibility at night and lasts between two to three years compared to the six months of other road markings.

The government is currently undertaking major infrastructure development projects especially in the roads sector and Roads Minister Franklin Bett who was present at the function said road contractors would have to meet high quality road marking standards.

“Most of the accidents on the roads are caused by poor markings and road signs that confuse drivers leading them to make mistakes,” Mr Bett said.

He also directed that future road markings feature reflective road studs that improve road visibility especially at night.

Ennis Prismo Middle East and Africa Manager John Lynch assured road contractors that the quality of the paint and durability was suitable for the Kenyan market.
