American real estate tycoon Donald Trump has indicated an interest to invest in the multi billion shilling Nairobi Golf City development.
Trump who has several golf properties around the world is among 43 other interested parties; including TPS Serena, Commercial Bank of Africa, Spencon International, Premiere Flour Mills and Associated Motors.
The proposed Nairobi Golf City will be located on two properties belonging to Kenya Railways and the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme; The Railway Golf Club on the east of Haile Selassie Avenue measuring 63 acres and The Railway Club on the west of Haile Selassie Avenue and bordering Uhuru Park.
The project will comprise a 100 room 5-star hotel, a 600 room 4-star business hotel, top of the range exclusive cottages, a nine hole golf course, a golf club house with a modern gym and associated facilities, conference facilities, exhibition rooms, Africa’s first IMAX theatre and adequate parking facilities.
Provision has been made for the future construction of a metropolitan rail terminal connecting the facility with Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the rest of the city.
The bids for the project are scheduled for opening in one month’s time and the US$600 million contract will be announced after technical evaluations.
