Juja City Mall to open in November

The Sh1.7 billion Juja City Mall, which is currently under construction in Kiambu County, is set to open by November 30, joining a raft of similar facilities on the Nairobi-Thika Road.

The two-level mall, whose groundbreaking was held in January 2014, sits on a 10-acre piece of land in Juja town, about 27km from Nairobi on Thika Road’s exit 14.

It has a built-up area of 220,000 square feet with approximately 80,000 square feet anchor tenant space – making it the largest single commercial development in Juja area.

The mall, which is being developed by City Network Holdings, will incorporate a three-star hotel, a two-acre kids amusement park, banking hall, petrol station, food court, ATM lobbies and 750 parking lots for shoppers and tenants.

Other features that are provided for tenants and shoppers convenience include a back-up generator, 24 hours CCTV surveillance cameras, security services, electricity, water and sanitation facilities.

Juja City Mall will have Tuskys and Maxland Restaurant as the anchor tenants.

On Thursday, letting agents HassConsult invited prospective tenants to make rent offers for the shops whose sizes range from 500 square feet.

“The mall offers an exceptional opportunity for retailers, big and small, as it is ideally located and caters for customers of all demographics,” the company said in a public notice.

Juja City Mall, which is fully owned by local investors and financed by local banks, hopes to cash in on the rising number of middle income earners who are moving into their newly built homes in the rapidly expanding Juja urban centre.

It joins the growing list of shopping malls along Thika Road; including Thika Road Mall (TRM) at Roysambu and Mountain Mall at Roasters, as well as the recently opened Garden City Mall on Thika Road’s Exit 7.
