Bobcat has introduced its largest excavators to date—the 23-tonne E220 and 25-tonne E245—expanding its large excavator range. These new models are designed for demanding commercial and residential construction, roadworks, and infrastructure projects.

The E220, a 23-tonne conventional tail-swing excavator, is powered by a 174-horsepower Bobcat diesel engine. On the other hand, the 25-tonne E245 has a reduced tail-swing design and boasts a more powerful 189-horsepower engine.

Both models are designed to meet Stage V emissions standards without the need for a diesel particulate filter, helping reduce maintenance requirements and increase uptime.

“Power+ mode is designed to load trucks quickly or sustain peak digging performance when opening up hard ground,” Bobcat stated, highlighting the versatility of these new machines.

The E220 has a digging depth of 21 feet 7 inches and the E245 offers 21 feet 11 inches.

Both excavators are equipped with a bucket digging force of 35,464 pound-feet for efficient material handling. Additionally, the E245 offers a maximum dump height of 312.6 inches, providing extra clearance for loading.

Advanced hydraulic systems

The new largest Bobcat excavator models are equipped with four selectable power modes, optimising hydraulic performance for a range of tasks:

  • Power+ Mode: Delivers top work-group speed for quick truck loading or sustained peak digging performance in challenging ground conditions.
  • Power Mode: Offers power and performance for tough digging, quick loading and heavy lifting and increased travel speed.
  • Standard Mode: Delivers balanced performance and reduced fuel usage for routine digging, lifting and grading.
  • Economy Mode: Optimises fuel economy when power demands are lower or when doing precise digging and fine grading.
