Develon has begun rolling out its next-generation -7 Series excavators, specially designed for loading timber and building roads.

The newly unveiled DX225LL-7 log loader and DX225RB-7 road builder are tailored for tough off-road work, offering more power, better safety, and easier maintenance than previous models.

Both run on a 162-horsepower Develon DL06P diesel engine and come equipped with standard My Develon telematics for real-time machine monitoring.

“These machines are built to work hard in the most demanding conditions,” said a Develon spokesperson. “We’ve focused on boosting performance, safety, and operator comfort.”

Both the log loader and road builder are fitted with hydraulic pumps that each deliver 56 gallons per minute of flow. Increased swing torque gives them greater control when moving logs — even on slopes — while a fine-swing function helps reduce shaking when handling large loads.

Operators can activate a one-touch power boost on the joystick to temporarily increase hydraulic pressure when extra force is needed. The machines also come with four selectable power modes to match output to the job at hand. An auto-shutdown function can be set to turn off the engine after 3 to 60 minutes of inactivity, helping to save fuel.

Built tough for the job

The DX225LL-7 log loader has a 4-foot cab riser, giving operators a better view when stacking timber. Its cab is also fitted with front and top guards for protection against falling debris and can be tilted 90 degrees for easier transport.

The road builder, meanwhile, is built on a fully guarded, high and wide undercarriage, providing more clearance over rough ground and stumps.

Both machines feature heavy-duty side doors, quarter-inch side panels, and protective guards around key components like the hydraulic pump and cooling system.

Inside the cab, comfort hasn’t been forgotten. A heated air-suspension seat adjusts to suit different operators, with movable headrests, armrests, and joystick controls.

A multi-function LCD screen displays diagnostics and live video feeds from the rear or optional side-view cameras. The around view monitor (AVM) system, available as an option, gives operators a full 360° view of their surroundings on a separate screen.

Standard features also include Bluetooth audio, a travel alarm, LED work lights, and a public address (PA) system — standard on the log loader and optional on the road builder.

Optional extras

Develon is also offering a side-entry forestry cab that meets Oregon OSHA and British Columbia WCB standards. It comes with guarded polycarbonate windows and a rear emergency exit. A thicker, 32mm polycarbonate option is also available.

Other optional add-ons include an air compressor, fuel filler pump, and boom and arm lock valve (available on the road builder only).

Easier to maintain

Maintenance is simplified with centralised grease points at the base of the boom, allowing multiple joints to be lubricated from a single spot.

The engine filters and hydraulic components are grouped together in a protected area, and the radiator is fitted with an auto-reversing fan to keep out debris.

The standard My Develon telematics system lets owners track machine health, location, and usage via app or website, helping with fleet management and preventive maintenance.

Both machines come with a standard 3-year/5,000-hour warranty, and buyers can choose from over 70 extended warranty plans through Develon’s Protection Plus programme, with coverage of up to 5 years or 7,500 hours.
