Bobcat has taken a bold step forward with the launch of its T86 compact track loader — the most powerful and capable model in the company’s history.

Weighing in at over 12,000 pounds and boasting a 105-horsepower engine, the T86 is purpose-built for demanding applications, from heavy material handling to high-flow hydraulic attachments.

“This is our largest track loader in the family of track loaders that we offer,” said Mike Fitzgerald, marketing manager at Bobcat Company.

“It’s a machine that weighs in at over 12,000 pounds and has a 105-horsepower engine. So good performance for bigger jobs and bigger applications where they need to move more material, lift more material, and run attachments.”

One of the standout features of the T86 is its three-tier hydraulic system, offering standard, high, and super flow options. With a maximum auxiliary flow of 42 gallons per minute, it’s tailored to run demanding attachments such as 40-inch planers, forestry drum mulchers, and snowblowers — equipment that demands serious hydraulic performance.

“You get up to a 40-inch planer, you need that extra flow and capacity from the auxiliary hydraulics,” Fitzgerald explained. “We do have the super flow to fit that.”

Operators also benefit from three workgroup response settings, allowing joystick sensitivity to be adjusted for varying levels of precision. Whether the job calls for slow, deliberate control or rapid response, the T86 can adapt on the fly.

The machine is equipped with a sealed, pressurised cab designed to minimise noise and vibration. Inside, operators will find a heated air-ride seat, ergonomic joystick controls, selectable control patterns (ISO or H-pattern), HVAC, and a touchscreen interface with Bluetooth radio.

Fitzgerald pointed to the machine’s 5-link torsion suspension system as another area where Bobcat has improved the operator experience.

“That is a torsion-type suspension that will give a better ride on the machine. Again, lowering fatigue for the operator as well as minimising impact and vibration.”

The T86 uses DEF and SCR to meet emissions standards, removing the need for a DPF and reducing maintenance requirements.

“Easy access to the fuel filter and air filter for those things that need more frequent maintenance,” Fitzgerald noted.

“This machine has got more standard equipment than some of the other machines do.”

With a rated operating capacity of 3,800 pounds and a cooling system built to handle the heat of high-demand attachments, the T86 positions itself as a serious contender for those needing both strength and versatility on the jobsite.
