Cat Unveils HD 325 Excavator Made for Heavy-Duty Work
The Cat 325 HD delivers strength, stability, and precision in tough jobs.

Heavy equipment giant Caterpillar has debuted a new heavy-duty configuration for its 325 excavator in a bid to enhance stability and performance in the toughest working conditions.
The updated model features a long undercarriage with an oversized 20-centimetre track pitch for improved stability and performance. An optional blade helps with backfilling and keeping level on slopes.
The new configuration also includes a 7.5-tonne counterweight, which helps maintain balance and control when using attachments such as a blade, Variable Angle Boom, heavy-duty stick, bucket thumbs, or quick coupler.
“We are excited to launch the new 325 configuration,” said Adrian Grigorita, Caterpillar Vice President of Product Management for Medium Hydraulic Excavators.
“Designed with our customers in mind, it supports heavier work tool combinations while delivering enhanced stability. The extended undercarriage and dedicated counterweight contribute to a solid, balanced platform, while increased drawbar pull and swing torque help improve performance on challenging terrain and slopes.”
The excavator can be fitted with either Reach or Variable Angle Boom fronts, with or without a blade. It also comes factory-equipped with a thumb-ready stick and quick coupler circuit, reducing the need for aftermarket modifications.
Stability is comparable to a 325 model with an 8.3-tonne counterweight and standard undercarriage, while larger final drives boost drawbar pull and higher swing torque ensures uphill swinging capabilities.

The excavator’s cutting-edge electro-hydraulic pump and control valve optimise power, while Smart Mode reduces fuel by matching engine output to demand.
The machine comes with standard Cat technologies like Grade with 2D, Grade Assist, Lift Assist and Payload, which help operators work more accurately and efficiently.
The new 325 model requires less maintenance thanks to longer-lasting fuel, hydraulic, and air filters, while ground-level engine oil checks let operators monitor the machine from the cab.
Operators of the upgraded machine enjoy lower operating costs thanks to its extended maintenance intervals and the elimination of pilot and case drain filters.
At the same time, the HD configuration’s durability and ability to handle heavier work tool combinations make it ideal for demanding tasks like land clearing and forestry.
