Fluor Bets on Ex-Bechtel Execs for Semiconductor Blitz
Move signals a strategic push into high-growth, technology-driven markets.

US contractor Fluor has appointed two former Bechtel executives to its Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences business to strengthen its work in the data centre and semiconductor sectors.
John Palmer joins Fluor as senior vice president of operations for advanced technologies, while Denis Bacon has been named vice president of semiconductors.
Palmer was previously director of strategic partnerships and operations management at Bechtel, while Bacon served as the company’s general manager for semiconductors.
In a press statement, Fluor disclosed that Palmer will lead its portfolio in the global data centre, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
“His role will be to grow our data centre, advanced manufacturing and semiconductor business in strategic markets around the world, and to ensure alignment with Fluor’s commitment to quality, safety and innovation,” the company said.

Palmer, whose career spans engineering and construction for semiconductor facilities, data centres, flat panel display and photovoltaic manufacturing, consumer electronics, life sciences and advanced automotive manufacturing, will be based in Greenville, South Carolina.
On his appointment, Palmer said, “I’m excited to take on this role at Fluor, helping to navigate some of the world’s most dynamic industry markets. With Denis Bacon joining our team, we are well-positioned to deliver innovative, capital-efficient solutions for leading technology clients to meet and exceed expectations for quality and speed to market.”
Meanwhile, with 25 years of experience in global project delivery and design/build execution for semiconductor and advanced technology facilities, Bacon will strengthen Fluor’s semiconductor business amid growing demand for semiconductor manufacturing and high-tech data centres.
