China’s state-owned equipment maker XCMG has launched its giant XE7000E hydraulic excavator, making China the fourth country after Germany, Japan and the USA capable of producing such equipment.

XCMG’s 700-tonne digger, which has just been rolled off the company’s assembly line in Xuzhou, China, is said to be the largest excavator made by a Chinese manufacturer.

The giant machine is powered by two 1,700-horse power motors that can generate stronger energy than two Type 99 tanks.

Measuring 23.5 metres long, the XCMG 700-tonne excavator weighs as much as 500 saloon cars. It has a bucket width of 5 metres and bucket capacity of 34 cubic metres.

According to the company, the excavator can dig out more than 50 tonnes of material per scoop using its maximum thrust pressure of 243 tonnes and a stick digging force of 230 tonnes.

The machine can load and transport 30,000 tonnes of material in eight hours – a high level of efficiency that is a major breakthrough for the Chinese mining industry.

“Everyone at XCMG has spared no effort making excavating and mining machinery the No.1 business sector for the company,” said Wang Min, chairman and president of XCMG. “Not only does the arrival of the XE7000E cement XCMG’s status as a global leader in cutting-edge heavy machinery manufacturing, it also supports and promotes China’s ‘Made in China 2025’ strategy.”

The excavator, said XCMG, boasts many exclusive technologies, such as intelligent monitoring of the high-pressure system, and fault self-diagnosis technology.

It also features a dual-power assembly coupling control system, a modularisation dual-power hydraulic driving system and an auto oil-supply, self-adaptive chassis tension system.
