Atlas Copco XAS 950 delivers 20pc fuel savings

The compressor uses modern technology to deliver fuel efficiency.

Atlas Copco’s recently released XAS 950 portable air compressor is making waves in the global air compressor market due to its ability to deliver up to 20 per cent in fuel savings.

The Atlas Copco XAS 950, a single-stage, oil-injected air compressor, is designed to offer a range of pressures and flows, including 950 cfm at 100 psi, 900 cfm at 150 psi, and 750 cfm at 200 psi.

The compressor uses a technology that optimises its engine speed, power and torque with air demand to deliver fuel efficiency.

Atlas Copco says the technology, which is known as pressure adjusted through cognitive electronics (PACE), delivers 15 to 20 per cent increase in fuel savings – bringing down costs for contractors.

The technology also allows the compressor a wider operating range, including horizontal directional drilling, geothermal drilling, sandblasting and shotcreting.

“The XAS 950 is built around the principals of pressure and flow. The focus of the unit is putting the controls in the operator’s hands thanks to the innovation and unique performance management solution, PACE,” Clayton Jones, product manager of large air at Atlas Copco, said in a statement.

“This air compressor delivers better performance in a smaller and lighter package. We believe it will be a game changer.”

The Atlas Copco XAS 950, which has an operating weight of less than 8,250 pounds, is powered by a liquid-cooled 6-cylinder turbocharged Caterpillar C7.1 Tier 4 Final diesel engine.

The compressor’s frame is designed to avoid oil, coolant, and fuel spills thus helping contractors to dodge recurring spillage costs.
