Sany Group, one of the world’s largest construction machinery makers, has launched a refreshed excavator range for North America, covering machines from 16 to 60 tons.

The lineup includes the SY135C, SY155U, SY235H, SY335C and SY500H.

While all five models share a broader push towards upgraded operator environments and expanded standard features, only three have been detailed publicly.

Sany America says the redesign focuses as much on operator experience as on digging power, with updated cabs, larger digital interfaces and more standardised hydraulics, reflecting a shift towards smarter, more adaptable machines.

The five-model lineup is as follows:

Sany SY135C

The SY135C, the smallest in the range, uses a 103.9-horsepower Isuzu engine and sticks with a conventional tailswing layout. It has been reworked for better cooling and easier servicing, with a taller body design that improves access.

Inside the cab, operators get Sany’s next-generation layout, including a 7-inch touchscreen display, a rearview camera, pilot controls, and an eight-tool selection system. Comfort has also been upgraded through a 16-way adjustable seat.

The machine shown at the exhibition was fitted with a mulcher attachment, which Sany says demonstrated strong performance relative to its size class.

Standard specifications include a backfill blade, first and second auxiliary hydraulic lines, a quick coupler, and steel tracks. Key figures place the SY135C at an operating weight of 32,783 lbs, with a dig depth of 18’ 1” and a maximum reach of 27’ 2”.

Sany SY155U

The SY155U has been designed with urban contractors in mind, particularly those operating in constrained environments such as roadside works and dense construction zones.

The machine’s reduced tailswing and fixed boom configuration allow it to work closer to obstacles without sacrificing stability.

At ConExpo, the machine was displayed with a tiltrotator system, offering 360-degree rotation and a side-tilt functionality. This enables more precise grading, trenching around obstacles, and slope work without constant repositioning of the machine.

Optional bolt-on rubber pads can be fitted to reduce surface damage when operating on roads or finished ground.

The SY155U uses a 103.9-horsepower Isuzu engine and shares the same cab layout as the SY135C, with a 7-inch touchscreen and a 16-way adjustable seat. It has an operating weight of 35,274 lbs, with a dig depth of 17’ 11” and a reach of 27’ 4”.

Sany SY235H

The 27-ton SY235H replaces the SY225. It keeps the same weight class and 173-horsepower Cummins engine, but features a new cab and updated design. Full specifications have not been released.

The remaining SY335C and SY500H complete the five-model rollout, extending the offering into heavier construction segments. However, detailed specifications for these two machines were not disclosed.

For Sany, the message at this year’s showcase was less about reinventing the excavator and more about refining it—through improved visibility, smarter controls, and incremental gains in operator efficiency across the board.
