Construction is well underway on DC Tower 2, a skyscraper in Donau City, located near the Danube River, destined to become a striking new landmark reshaping Vienna’s skyline.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, the tower will soar 174 metres across 53 floors, making it Austria’s second-tallest skyscraper. It neighbours the towering DC Tower 1 — currently the country’s tallest at 250 metres — and the shorter DC Tower 3.

Unlike its original design as a twin to DC Tower 1, the project was reshaped following advice from Vienna’s Urban Planning Advisory Board. Renowned French architect Dominique Perrault revised the plans to better fit the city’s urban context.

The tower will include a mix of uses, combining retail spaces, restaurants, offices, and roughly 470 rental apartments — all featuring private loggias that offer residents outdoor space with views of the Danube.

German construction specialist Peri GmbH has played a vital role in the building process. Their innovative climbing formwork system allowed safe, efficient work on the tower’s core, especially when concrete reinforcement exceeded two and a half storeys in height.

“The Maximo Panel Formwork, adjusted with the aid of a carriage, ensured fast shuttering times,” Peri notes, adding that the RCS P Climbing Protection Panel provided crucial safety against falls, wind, and falling debris.

A sustainable façade with Europe’s first photovoltaic solar panels on a high-rise will boost DC Tower 2’s energy efficiency and set a new green architecture benchmark.

Austrian construction giant Porr AG is the main contractor for the tower, set to become a landmark blending design, mixed-use function, and sustainability by the Danube.

Since the early stages, Peri’s equipment has been essential in optimising construction efficiency. The building’s core was split into four work areas, allowing simultaneous progress.

Their climbing formwork with an enclosed concreting platform enabled safe working conditions even with reinforcement heights surpassing two and a half floors.

Such engineering solutions have sped up the process without compromising safety or quality.

DC Tower 2 mixes homes, shops, and offices, matching Vienna’s plan for lively and eco-friendly city life. It is designed to be a busy community place, not just an office building.
